Heat stress
Heat stress in hot areas.
Warns when the operator's heart rate and body temperature indicate a risk of heat stress, before they need to report feeling unwell.
About the risk
Heat stress
Heat stress happens when the body cannot dissipate the heat generated by effort and absorbed from the environment. Body temperature rises, the heart works harder, and dizziness, cramps and confusion appear, which can progress to heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Outdoor work, work near furnaces and work in heavy PPE are the most exposed, and the feeling of heat is misleading. Tracking each worker's body temperature and heart rate shows the individual risk, on top of the environmental assessment.
What this scenario detects
Alerts when heart rate and body temperature indicate a risk of heat stress.
When to use
- Outdoor activities under strong sun or near heat sources.
- Roles with PPE that makes heat exchange harder.
- Long shifts with continuous physical effort.
When not to use
- Roles in air-conditioned environments, with no heat exposure.
- When the operator does not use the temperature sensor: the scenario depends on it.
Examples in the field
- MiningOpen-pit mining front in summer, with a maintenance crew exposed to the sun.
- IndustryOperators near furnaces, boilers or foundry lines.
How it works
- 01
The sensor measures
The worker wears a compatible wearable sensor during the shift.
- 02
The platform detects
The platform compares the signals with the worker's personal reference and the scenario rules, and raises the alert at the configured intensity level.
- 03
The team handles the alert
The alert shows up in PredictVIEW's Live operation. The manager records the handling and the worker receives the guidance in the app.
